Post-construction cleaning
Post-construction cleaning after build-outs, remodels and tenant improvements, timed to your opening or move-in date.
A build-out isn’t finished until people can use the space. Post-construction cleaning takes a new or remodeled space from the day the last trade packs up to the morning your team moves in, on the date you planned.
Fieldstone plans the cleanup in passes. A rough clean clears debris once the heavy work ends, a detailed final clean goes top to bottom before move-in, and a touch-up catches anything that settles afterward.
Floors, glass, fixtures and cabinets are left ready for people, on the date you need the space.

Rough clean, final clean and a last touch-up.

Ledges, fixtures, glass, cabinets and floors.

A space people can move into that day.
Fine dust from drywall and cutting gets into places nobody wipes in a normal week: the tops of door frames, inside light lenses, across air diffusers, along window tracks, inside new drawers and under sinks, on outlet covers and stair nosings.
It keeps drifting down for days as the air system runs and doors open and close. That’s why the cleanup comes in passes: a rough clean when the heavy work ends, a detailed clean after the last trade and a touch-up right before people move in.
The cleanup goes best when it follows the contractor’s schedule. Share when each trade expects to finish, who holds access and which areas are still off limits. If a trade returns after the final clean, the touch-up pass picks up the fresh dust.
Recurring janitorial service can start right after handover, and new vinyl or tile can start a floor program right away. New carpet that saw foot traffic during the build can get extraction before move-in.Post-construction cleaning is a one-time job priced per square foot, covering every phase from rough clean to final touch-up. Published 2026 figures for the region put it at $0.30 to $0.70 a square foot, with Sacramento-area projects lower and San Francisco build-outs higher. Light refreshes after a small remodel start near $0.22, and heavy new builds with a lot of glass and fine dust reach $1.00. The commercial cleaning cost guide shows how one-time work sits beside recurring rates.
Take an 8,000-square-foot tenant improvement in San Jose: new offices, a break area and fresh flooring throughout. Priced at $0.42 a square foot for all three passes (a rough clean once the heavy work ends, a detailed final after the last trade and a touch-up right before move-in), the job totals $3,360. A one-pass clean of a painted and recarpeted suite comes in well below that rate.
Dust is the main driver: drywall sanding, concrete cutting and ceiling work leave more of it to clear on every pass. Window and glass area, ceiling height, the number of phases and how tightly the schedule is compressed before move-in all move the price. Work done while other trades are still on site takes longer. Removing stickers and paint flecks from new glass and fixtures counts as well. We walk the space with your contractor or project manager and set the passes and dates in a written plan and quote.
